BCPC Agrochemicals Applications Working Group:
Open meeting on future needs for pesticide application R&D – needs and priorities

Wednesday 3rd November, 2 – 5pm

The UK has had a long history of world leading research into pesticide application techniques and equipment, and over recent years there have been many successful collaborations between industry and researchers, which have provided strong science-based foundations for commercial developments by both the agrochemical and equipment industries.

Increasing regulatory pressures, particularly from within the EU, mean that the need for such developments is greater than ever, yet funding opportunities for the necessary underpinning research in the UK have become very limited. The aim of this meeting is to bring together industry, researchers and funders, to identify future UK strategic research needs for pesticide application and actions that need to be taken to ensure that the research can be appropriately funded. The Agenda will include brief presentations relating to agrochemical, machinery/equipment and farming industry needs, regulatory drivers and research opportunities, followed by open discussion to identify generic research needs, and funding mechanisms.
